noam-in-studio.jpgNoam Lederman is an extremely talented drummer and composer as well as author, teacher and examiner.

At the age of 30 he has already recorded many studio albums, toured extensively around the globe and been involved with writing over 40 international publications. Noam's credits include: Corinne Bailey Rae, State OF Bengal, Mark Hill (producer), Trevor Horn (producer) and many others...

First and foremost Noam is a professional drummer and does a lot of session recording, these are some of the current projects he is involved in:  

1.    Third Stone http://www.myspace.com/thirdstoneband

This rock band consists of: Noam Lederman (drums), Liv Airey (bass) and Keith Airey (Guitar & vocals). Noam has joined the band in 2005 and after a few successful gigs, the trio decided to start writing new material and record a new album.
Keith's credits include: Tom Jones, Nic Kershaw, Mamma mia musical and many more.


2.    State of Bengal http://www.stateofbengal.com

State of Bengal has been one of the most influential and prominent part of the Asian break beat scene for the last 15 years. This act plays mainly big scale festivals and is very popular in SE Asia, China, USA and Europe. Noam has been working with State Of Bengal for 4 years and played festivals In the UK, Ireland and Italy such as: Womad, Essential, Rhythm sticks, Reading and Respect festival.

3.    KFD Project

Noam's individual project which combines world music influences with Drum & Bass beats. The live act is a duo, Noam Lederman and Neel Dhorajiwala, and uses many electronic and acoustic instruments. The project is performing regularly in London and got a planned tour in Europe for 2009. As composers Neel and Noam already published some music on a film music compilation and been asked to compose music for a BBC documentary next year.

4. 'Mandinga'

One of the top Brazilian-funk bands in the UK. The group has been working together for over 5 years and Noam has recently stared to work with them. They perform regularly in London's west end and also travel around Europe to participate in jazz/world music festivals. Samba, Salsa, Lambada and Merengue are just a few of the grooves this band can produce.

Rockschool was set up in 1991 to bring the best in pop and rock into mainstream education. They do this by providing exams, publications, advice and support to teachers and educational bodies. Rockschool continually expands its activities by creating partnerships and developing new qualifications. They have more than 60 exam centres in the UK and operate in many countries outside the UK such as: Australia, China, Dubai, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa and Thailand.

Rockschool offers a range of qualifications catering for all ages and levels of ability, including graded exams, teaching qualifications and part-time and full-time courses in conjunction with their partners.

Noam has written the new Rockschool drums syllabus (9 books), which was published in September 2006 and will be valid until 2012. In addition composed, consulted and played drums on the new Bass and Guitar syllabus (18 books) which came out at the same time.

The syllabus was published worldwide in 2006 and already sold over 100,000 copies. As Rockschool are becoming more popular and the number of candidates that apply for these exams are always growing this figure is expected to rise every year.

On his examining/book tours, Noam travels to big drum centres/colleges/universities in all the countries in order to present and demonstrate the new syllabus. Until now he visited Ireland, Hong kong, India, New Zealand and Thailand with many other tours planned for next few years. These tours obviously include many live performances of the syllabus, and the audience include many pro drummers, musicians, teachers and students.

In the near future Noam will be working on a new series of repertoire books for drums as well as planning the production of the first Rockschool (drums) educational DVD ,with himself playing and presenting.

2.    Faber Music http://www.fabermusic.com

After the massive success of the Rockschool books Noam has been approached by Faber Music to write/arrange and play on some for their Drums/Bass/Guitar play along books. Until now he has been involved in 15 books which are proving to be very good sellers. The books include band like: Nirvana, Guns & Roses, REM, Deep Purple and compilations like Rock classics.


Education: Teacher / Examiner / Moderator

1.    Teacher

Noam manages to fit 12 private students into his very busy schedule, with a large waiting list and average waiting time of 3-6 months. He stays in touch with the community by also teaching in two high schools in North London. In a full teaching week he will see about 65 students, from beginners to semi professionals, many of them are interested in Latin music and Drum & Bass which Noam specializes in.

2.    Examiner

Noam has been a Rockschool examiner for over 3 years and is qualified to asses these instruments: Guitar, Bass, Drums, Vocals and Poplar Piano. Now he is a Senior Examiner of the board that helps with the training process of new examiners. On an average year, Noam will travel around the UK and the world to asses more than 750 musical performances.

3.    Moderator

Noam is a UK music moderator for Rockschool. Together with its partner Access To Music, the country's largest provider of popular music education, Rockschool has developed a number of course-based qualifications. The suite of qualifications has been designed to provide vocationally relevant courses in popular music aimed at beginner through to semi-professional. With an emphasis on practical, positive music making, the courses allow for both direct progression into the industry and/or progression to a higher level of study.
